Press Release Tekniska Verken

Maingate reaches agreement with Tekniska Verken – safer district heating in Linköping.
Maingate has in cooperation with Wideco Sweden AB signed a contract with Tekniska Verken in Linköping AB concerning district heat monitoring in the district heating net.
Tekniska Verken in Linköping is investing in alarm units for continuous, automatic monitoring of its district heating system. Tekniska Verken uses a net monitoring system from Wideco, RedDetect©, whose units communicate wirelessly via Maingate's M2M solution. When fully completed the contract will encompass 1,200 heat storages in the district heating system.
The investment is vitally important for Tekniska Verken. Damage to the district heating system can be costly and if a damp warning can be issued in time there are margins to correct the problem before the damage becomes too large. Monitoring the heat storages has until now mostly been handled by radio based systems. They have had too long a response time to work safely. From now on, the monitoring of the heat storages will take place electronically. As a result Tekniska Verken will have continuous updates in real time. The RedDetect© system comes with automatic monitoring, which also increases safety considerably.
The system has the added advantage of making it simpler to achieve a total overview of safety. That in turn makes it easier to plan and implement all types of measures, such as maintenance. For Tekniska Verken this ensures more efficient maintenance and a vastly improved working environment.
The monitoring system comprises software for alarm analysis and communication from the alarm units to the monitoring computer. This communication often uses GPRS. The communication in Tekniska Verken assignment is handled by Maingate AB. Maingate is a world leading Swedish company specialised in industrial wireless communication between machines and systems. Maingate is supplying the entire wireless communication platform for Tekniska Verken's monitoring system.
"The project is strategically important for us at Wideco and also the largest project we have taken on so far. It demonstrates that our products are very competitive and attractive to customers," says Karl-Johan Wirfalk, President of Wideco.
"The contract with Tekniska Verken in Linköping is a pleasing show of faith and the result of our long-term presence and development of the players in the district heating segment," says Patrick Isacson, Senior VP at Maingate. "It also reflects Maingate's competitiveness in the market. Monitoring of district heating nets is one of the many application areas where Maingate's M2M services improve and lift the efficiency of our customers operations."
